Heads up: This is a plain-language summary, not official policy, and rules change often. Always confirm the current requirements with the official source linked in each section. BookZeta does not publish on your behalf and can't guarantee any marketplace will accept your book.
It helps to be clear about who does what, so there are no surprises when you go to publish. BookZeta is a creation and export studio: we give you the tools to write, illustrate, narrate and lay out your work, and we produce the finished files. What happens after that — listing, selling, pricing, reviews — is between you and the marketplace you choose.
What BookZeta does
- Gives you the tools and the files. You build your book here and export store-ready files (interior, cover, audiobook) when you're done.
- Aligns with common specs. Our exports are designed to match widely used store requirements, to give you a strong starting point.
What BookZeta does not do
- We don't publish for you. There is no button that lists your book on a store. You create an account on the marketplace and upload the files yourself.
- We don't guarantee acceptance, sales or rankings. Each store decides what it lists, under its own rules and review process. Strong files improve your odds; they don't guarantee approval.
What you're responsible for
This is the important part, and it's all yours:
- You own your work and remain the author and rights holder. That ownership comes with responsibility.
- Content rules. Make sure your book meets each store's content guidelines.
- IP clearance. Confirm you have the rights to everything in the book — text, images, names, quotes — and aren't infringing anyone's copyright or trademark.
- AI disclosure. Answer each store's AI-content questions honestly — see AI content disclosure.
- Identifiers, metadata and pricing. Set up ISBNs where needed, write accurate metadata, and choose your pricing and territories.
- Taxes and platform terms. Handle your own tax details with each store and follow each platform's terms.
Why this split is good for you
Because we provide files rather than publishing on your behalf, you keep control. You decide where to sell, you own the listings and the relationships with each store, and you can take your files elsewhere at any time. The trade-off is that the responsibilities above are genuinely yours — but so are the rewards.
This summary doesn't replace our Terms of Service, which govern your use of BookZeta and take precedence if anything here is unclear. When in doubt about a legal question — rights, contracts, taxes — consult a qualified professional.
