Heads up: This is a plain-language summary, not official policy, and rules change often. Always confirm the current requirements with the official source linked in each section. BookZeta does not publish on your behalf and can't guarantee any marketplace will accept your book.
Several marketplaces now ask whether your book contains AI-generated content — text, images or narration — when you upload it. These policies differ from store to store and change frequently, so the only reliable approach is to check each platform's current questions at upload time and answer them accurately for your specific book.
Generated vs. assisted: know which applies
Many stores draw a line between two situations, and you may need to answer differently depending on how you actually made the book:
- AI-generated content — content created by AI, such as a chapter, image or narration produced by a model. Stores usually want this disclosed.
- AI-assisted content — content you authored, where AI helped you brainstorm, edit, refine or check your work. Several stores treat this as ordinary authoring that often doesn't require the same disclosure.
The boundary isn't always obvious, and each store defines it in its own words. When in doubt, read the store's exact definitions rather than guessing, and describe what you did honestly.
Practical guidance
- Answer honestly. Misrepresenting AI involvement — saying "no" when the answer is "yes," or the reverse — can put your account at risk. Accuracy protects you.
- Be specific. A book can be AI in some parts and not others (for example, AI illustrations but human-written text). Note what's true for each element.
- Watch the marketing rules too. Some stores limit how AI content can be labeled or promoted in your title, cover or description, separately from the disclosure itself.
- Re-check on every upload. A policy that applied last time may have changed; don't assume.
Where to check
- KDP: answer the AI-content questions in the publishing flow — see Amazon KDP rules.
- ACX/Audible: review their narration policy, including whether AI narration is accepted for your account and region — see Audible/ACX rules.
- Other stores: each distributor sets its own rules — see other distributors.
Because BookZeta is an AI-assisted studio, assume some form of disclosure may be required and keep your answers accurate. Doing so is the safest path: it keeps you in good standing with each marketplace and avoids surprises down the line.
