Understanding Creation Points

Knowledge Base / Getting Started /Understanding Creation Points

Creation Points are the credits you spend on AI actions in BookZeta — generating a chapter, an image, narration, a publishing kit, and so on. They're how the platform meters the AI work behind the scenes. The good news: manual editing is always free. Writing, formatting, rearranging chapters and tweaking text never cost a thing. You only spend points when you ask the AI to make something for you.

How points work

  • Monthly allowance. Your plan includes a set number of Creation Points each month. These reset at the start of each billing cycle and generally don't roll over.
  • Bonus points. You can also earn or buy bonus points (for example, through a top-up). Unlike the monthly allowance, bonus points are permanent and don't expire.
  • How spending is drawn. When an action costs points, BookZeta uses your monthly allowance first. If a single action would cost more than you have left for the month, it uses up the rest of your monthly points and covers the remainder from your bonus points.
  • Always shown before you confirm. Every action's cost is displayed before you commit, so nothing is ever charged by surprise.

Typical costs

Action Points
Story title / tone 10
Story description 20
Book outline 30
Chapter (text) 30
Chapter audio 30
Image 50
Publishing Kit 60
One-click short story 100
One-click novel 500

Exact costs can change and are always shown before you confirm an action. The bigger the job, the more it costs: generating a single chapter is inexpensive, while a one-click full novel — which produces a title, outline, every chapter and assets in one go — is the most point-intensive action there is.

Checking your balance

Your remaining balance appears in the top navigation, next to your profile, so you can keep an eye on it as you work.

Tips for getting the most from your points

  • Draft by hand where you can. Writing and editing manually is free, so you can reserve points for the parts where the AI genuinely speeds you up.
  • Outline before you generate. A solid outline (a modest spend) helps the AI produce chapters you'll keep, so you regenerate less often.
  • Regenerate selectively. If only one section is off, regenerate just that piece rather than the whole chapter.
  • Save the big one-click runs for when you're sure. A one-click novel is powerful but pricey — it's best once you know the direction you want.

Common questions

Do unused monthly points carry over? No — monthly points reset each billing cycle and generally don't roll over. Bonus points, however, are permanent.

What happens if I run low mid-month? You can top up bonus points without changing your plan. See Account, plans & billing basics.

Does editing my work cost points? No. Only AI generations cost points; manual writing and editing are always free.

For how your allowance renews and how to top up, see Account, plans & billing basics.
