Synopsis
In the exhilarating arena of international motorsport, Evie Hart, a sharp British public relations expert in her late twenties, steps into Veloce Racing to mend the tarnished image of talented driver Luca Moretti. Their initial encounters bristle with tension as Luca perceives her as yet another attempt to muzzle him, while Evie views his arrogance as a self-inflicted wound to his promising career. Through early race events, she shields him from prying reporters and confronts his conduct privately, fostering a grudging respect that hints at deeper attraction beneath the sharp banter.
Photographs of the pair together spark media speculation just as the team confronts a sponsor controversy. Management proposes a temporary fake relationship to boost Luca's image. Evie agrees only after setting strict professional boundaries and a written set of rules for their staged partnership. Constant travel to race weekends and public appearances blurs the line between performance and genuine feeling.
Their banter evolves into trust and emotional intimacy. Luca realises his feelings first. A hard-earned kiss marks the shift. After a travel disruption forces them to share one hotel room, they reveal vulnerabilities: Luca explains his distrust of journalists stemming from family matters, while Evie admits her fear that others value her only for professional utility. This connection deepens into a real romance filled with chemistry, humour and slow-burn passion.
Private information about Luca leaks to the press under circumstances that seem to implicate Evie. Hurt by old wounds, he accuses her of betrayal. Devastated by his lack of trust, she leaves the team and the relationship. Luca later learns the leak originated inside the commercial organisation to protect sponsorship interests and recognises that fear led him to destroy the trust they had built.
During the final race weekend, Luca accepts responsibility with a sincere apology offered without excuses or expectation of forgiveness. Evie refuses to sacrifice her hard-won career for love. Together they forge a path where both maintain professional independence. Several months later, Evie runs her own motorsport communications consultancy with Luca as a client. Their bond is openly genuine. They share a playful callback to the fake-dating rules they created together.
