Plays are the purest writing exercise there is: no camera to hide behind, no editing room to save a scene. Just people talking in a room while an audience watches. That makes a play script mostly dialogue, and dialogue happens to be something AI drafts remarkably well when you give it a strong situation.
Choose Play Script and set the scale
Pick Play Script on the create screen. Plays on BookZeta run 25 to 150 pages: a one-act sits around 25 to 40, a full-length evening at 80 to 120. Describe the situation, the characters trapped in it, and what the argument is really about, then pick a genre and let the AI structure it into acts and scenes.
Play format is its own animal
Stage plays do not use screenplay sluglines. BookZeta formats plays the way theatres expect:
- Act and scene headings such as ACT I, SCENE 2, centered.
- Stage directions describing the set, entrances, exits, and business, instead of camera-facing action lines.
- Character names and dialogue at stage-script indents, with italic parentheticals for line readings.
