A pilot has a harder job than a movie. It has to tell a complete story, introduce a cast worth following, and prove there are fifty more episodes in the engine. Here is how to draft one with AI and keep the wheels on.
Pick Series Script and size the episode
On the create screen, choose Series Script. TV scripts on BookZeta run 15 to 70 pages, which covers the real formats: a half-hour comedy usually lands between 22 and 35 pages, an hour drama between 50 and 65. Give the AI your premise, the tone, and the genre, and it plans the episode scene by scene, about three pages per scene.
Write the pilot like episode one, not a trailer
A common pilot mistake is cramming the whole series into forty pages. Tell the AI what this single episode is about and let the series premise sit underneath it. In your description, name the protagonist, the situation that will not go away (the precinct, the family business, the ship), and the specific problem of this episode. The generated draft gives you teaser-to-final-scene coverage you can then reshape.
Keep the cast consistent across episodes
This is where a series lives or dies, and where BookZeta pulls ahead of one-off script tools. Create each episode as its own script and group them into a series, then use the Series Bible in Writer Studio to hold your characters, settings, and running lore. When you draft episode four, the AI knows the detective's partner quit in episode two.
Polish in a real teleplay editor
Open the episode in Writer Studio to rewrite by hand: proper sluglines, action, character names, parentheticals, and dialogue, with element types one keystroke apart. Auto-generate up to 24 scenes for an episode draft, or build it scene by scene yourself. The element-by-element breakdown is in Script formatting explained.
Export and share
Export the finished episode as PDF (Courier, standard indents, typed title page), DOCX for notes from a writing partner, or EPUB to read on your phone. Specifics in Exporting your script.
